Welcome to the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer!

We hope this website will help you to discover our beautiful and historic building, as well as our worshipping community.

The Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Calgary and is so-called because it contains the bishop's official seat, or chair, which in Latin is called a 'cathedra'. The cathedra is the symbol of the bishop's authority as chief pastor and teacher of the diocese.

The Cathedral is also home to a vibrant, diverse, and growing congregation, through whose dedication our worship serves as a living reminder of spiritual values in the midst of a busy downtown core. We take to heart our mandate to be 'A Place for the Soul in the Heart of the City' through worship, outreach and education designed to help us love God and our neighbours.
